Position Title:

System Test Engineer (No. 1031)
Department: Hardware
   

JOB SUMMARY:

Define and perform both White Box and Black Box testing initially at the hardware but graduating to the system level for a navigation and surveillance system in the aerospace industry.

Some travel required to gain system level testing experience during customer installations in and out of the U.S. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide test documentation for hardware developed on a complex hardware/software integrated system
  • Use of laboratory test equipment and utilities to generate test data.
  • Write test scripts for automated test environments. Identify, troubleshoot, and analyze technical errors, document test results, and submit recommendations for corrective action.
  • Manage the Problem Resolution process, including data entry, resolution and verification
  • Ensure that systems tests are successfully completed and documented and all problems are resolved for implementation. 

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Experience with VHF/UHF RF systems
  • Experience with rack mount hardware systems such as cPCI
  • Experience with digital/software radios
  • Experience in formal Quality Assurance processes
  • Experience working with military or governmental organizations a plus
  • Familiarity with ground based, civilian or military aircraft landing systems
  • Understanding of commercially available, antenna, receiver, phase discriminator, and transmitter subsystems
  • Knowledge of personal computers, configuring them and interfacing using PCI bus
  • Must have very good writing and organizational skills.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Experienced in facilitating process-based implementation in technical organizations
  • BS degree and 3-5 years directly applicable experience
  • Experience in formal test discipline working on complex systems
  • Experience in formal hardware and software testing procedures
  • Must be able to make measurements using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
